After nearly eight days of back and forth to the dealer and hotels in Grand Rapids, MI we finally did it, we completed what feels like, our maiden voyage. It's 10:30pm and we just pulled into Petoskey, MI, found our site, parked, did some minor setup for the night and put the kids to bed. The drive was 5 and a half hours, and I gotta say, was pretty easy. We are at petoskeykoa.com, site 349 if you want to see the map. During the drive I listened to the radio and a lot of Love Line podcasts, while Jen and the kids played games, ate dinner, and learned the state bird and stuff. Spending a considerable amount of time driving our late minivan with the kids in the back seat, i can say from experience, having 35 feet of depth behind me in the RV is nice! Also, Jen and I feel the best we've felt since leaving Fort Wayne. Except for some great moments, it was a brutal month. Moving, packing, getting rid of half our stuff, learning the RV, fixing the RV, saying goodbye to friends and family, the unknown, the known, change change and more change. But this is a new day and it felt great. I heard Campbell say to Jen before going to sleep, "Mommy will it be sunny when we wake up in Indiana" I'm not sure if a 4 year old can speak metaphorically, but I feel like tomorrow is going to be a sunny day, whatever state we are in.
A special thanks to Todd and Anna for the great time in Stevensonville, your family is awesome and I'll think about that gluten free goat cheese pizza all the way across the country.
Coming soon... the first DUMP on video.
Take care, Drew
