Philadelphia, New York, Washington DC and North Carolina

Our last three weeks we very fun and included some real gems and exciting locations.  Here are some highlights and a picture gallery. We planned a week stay in downtown New York, and had a week of service scheduled for Birky (our RV) in NJ during our stay.  After saying good-bye to Birky, we had to spend two nights somewhere before heading to NY... while driving I opened my iPad and noticed on the map that we were only 20 minutes from Philadelphia (who knew), I quickly made a reservation (again using the iPad;-) on hotwire.com and a few minutes later we checked into a nice hotel downtown Philadelphia.  We had no idea how cool and historical Philadelphia is, it was one of the best unplanned surprises of the trip so far.

Off to the Upper East Side of Manhattan, a week in a nice hotel, with unlimited hot shower water, a pool, a TV, and best of all Grandma came to stay with us!  We had a great time eating, seeing plays, walking and enjoying a one of the greatest cities in the world.

We pick up Birky and headed to Washington DC.  I was there for 4 days, and the rest of my family was there for 10 days because I left them (again) to do my yearly trip to the woods of Northern Minnesota.  Other than fantastic museums, monuments and scenery we celebrated Halloween here.  For the kids, we had planned to spend a day in DC at the National Aquarium, where they were having a costume contest, and games.  That was fun, but we were pleasantly surprised to learn the RV park we were staying had full-on trick or treating.  As you walked around the park, if the RV was handing out candy, they put a pumpkin in their front window, very fun and felt good to do the traditional costume/candy walk with the kids.

The Outer Banks in North Carolina, if you haven't been there we recommend you see it once in your life.  Incredible beaches, ocean waves, the best sea shells we've found, great restaurants and people.  One day while walking on the beach, we noticed a family of dolphins swimming just beyond the break, we watched them for a hour.  We also visited our friends the Sharps in Wilmington and had a good time.
