I Had a Dream!!

I Had a Dream!!

As any parent knows we dream big dreams for our children. For some it is for them to be an NFL super star, for others it's that their child goes Harvard. Drew and I have big dreams for our kids but neither one of us could have imagined what they have both could achieve at the ripe young ages of 4 and 7. Yes that is right, they have been accepted to one of the most prestigious schools in the country. A school where children learn about the world at an accelerated rate, a school where they are taught to be "happy thinkers!" A school where not one field trip a year is enough but where they have at least 30 to 40 field trips, probably more. The name you ask of this amazing school, well of course it is Mile Marker Academy. This is the second week of school for these two and yes it looks as though Taylor will graduate at the top of her class. She is already working on her valadictorian speech. Cam is also at the top of his class and will surely graduate with honors. I have just completed our first week and overall it has gone well. Day one was a little shaky as I struggled through the curriculum a bit and tried to make the day flow with a second grader who needs more school and a kindergartner who needs more attention. Day two was, per Taylor : "AWESOME"! and the kids and I enjoyed it more. I spend about two hours each night preparing the lesson for the next day and I hope this time gets to be less and less as I become more proficient. Our theme is Little explorers, so we made a field log and my kids are Lewis and Clark. I really want to make it fun! Cam's constructive criticism was that we need to have two snacks not just one during snack time.

It truly is going to be a fun yet challenging year, as I am not a teacher by trade but do take this new found career very seriously and hope to keep my kids zest for learning alive.

Taylor may not know her math facts by the end of second grade but she will know her geography like no other :=)

If any of you wise friends out there have any tips, words of wisdom for me as I embark upon this journey..please, let me know. Jen
